Thales
The Wonderful World of STEM
Challenge
There’s a massive deficit of kids studying STEM subjects in the UK. Thales wanted our help in trying to turn that around. To let school kids know that studying STEM is not only important, but incredibly fun too.
Solution
We wanted kids to see that by studying STEM they can create the world around us. They can do anything. Make anything. Be anything. All while having a good time.
To get this idea across, we created Raybot and Faybot. Two friendly, adventurous, ever-curious robots who conduct simple experiments that reveal everyday wonders. And who invite kids to join in the fun and see for themselves all the things that STEM can make happen.
In the end, we created a school presentation for kids, exhibition collateral, a brochure packed with fascinating insights about STEM (and lots of experiments too), a captivating quiz game and more.
Reaction…
This campaign won the Best Apprentice & School Leaver Attraction campaign at the RAD Awards, which was great. But even better, were the reactions of the teachers and students it was designed to inspire.
“Really like The Adventures of Ray and Fay. It’s fun and the activities can take place at home as well as in the classroom. Learning from a Robot is much better than learning from an adult!”
Thomas Lade, age 9
“I really like these! I can talk to our junior school about incorporating them into their schemes of work, but can also see myself using this with year 7 too. I think the simple text giving examples for each different type of engineer is great. I can really imagine students being able to take that and then use it to think of their own examples as a nice discussion activity.”
Naomi, Teacher. Brighton.
“These are really great. I love the simple explanations of fairly complicated issues.”
Bronagh, Head of STEM. Sussex.
